"As a nation largely descendent of migrant forefathers, we can easily appreciate
what makes these Chinese and other pioneers, whatever their race, so worthy
of praise," said Mr Lim Neo Chian, Deputy Chairman and Chief Executive, STB.
He added that Hua Song "brings to life stories of everyday heroes in our
midst. You and I can easily identify with the stories of these unassuming
individuals. In facts, they could easily have been stories of our great-grandfather,
grand aunt or brother....wheather one comes from Singapore, India, America
or China, one will alwalys come away from Hua Song with a real sense of what
migrant life was like in the past."
The Hua Song museum is intended to cater to a diverse audience ranging from
international visitors to locals and is expected to attract at least 100,000
visitors a year. Travelers exploring Asia will find it especially interesting
for the insight that the museum provides on the Chinese Overseas experience.
With the opening of Hua Song, the overall Haw Par Villa visitor experience
is enhanced. This is in line with the Singapore Tourism Board’s aim to make
every visit to an attraction a memorable one, even for repeat trips. As such,
existing attractions are encouraged to constantly update and enhance their
offerings to meet the evolving needs of visitors.
Visitors can also look forward to a gastronomical feast at the restaurant
