| Pimalai Resort & Spa, Krabi Thailand - Earthly Paradise |
Earthly ParadiseThailand’s many beautiful islands and pristine beaches make it an ideal host for premium beach resorts and spa facilities. Indeed, there are many of these dotted all over the country but one that stands out is Pimalai Resort & Spa . This deluxe 5-star facility opened its doors in 2001 and in 2004 was the proud recipient of a prestigious Kinnari Trophy of Excellence as recognized by the Tourism Authority of Thailand. Pimalai sits amid the splendor of 100 acres of hilly land on the peaceful island of Ko Lanta , renowned for its tranquil, unspoiled atmosphere; beautiful beaches and a lush, green low-mountain backdrop where wildlife abounds. The island is one of Thailand’s favoured holiday destinations due to its natural beauty and proximity to some very highly rated diving spots. Also, the resort is just about 2 hours away from Krabi International Airport and is easily accessible by the resort’s minibus and cruising boat. The accommodation consists of restful low-density units nestled in the magnificent lush tropical forest, overlooking the sandy shores of Ba Kan Tiang Bay. A great emphasis has been placed by the architects on preserving the natural environment resulting in a resort that complements rather than competes with its surroundings. Tastefully surrounded by tropical gardens, a variety of premium class accommodation is available for your selection – Deluxe Rooms , Pavilion Suites , Beach Villas and Pool Villas . The rooms, suites and villas feature contemporary Thai designs with polished teak wood floors, large balconies, king size beds, huge bathrooms and plush amenities. Deluxe Rooms consist of sixteen well-spaced clusters of low rise southern Thai style two-storey buildings. Rooms are spacious (48 sq. metres of living space), highlighted with rich Thai cotton upholstery, bamboo curtains and Thai artifacts. Beds are either king or twin size, and rooms open onto a large private balcony. A second phase of Pimalai’s development was the opening of the Pool Villa Estate in December 2005. All of these villas are nestled on a hillside, 60 to 80 meters above sea level. The elegantly appointed one, two and three-bedroom Pool Villas offer breathtaking views of the blue waters of the majestic Andaman Sea as well as an overview of the verdant mountainous environs. The master bedroom faces the bay where guests may relax to the sounds of waves lapping the shores of Ba Kan Tiang Bay. A secluded private infinity edge pool (5.5 x 3.5 metre) highlights each unit. Each villa is also equipped with a kitchenette. While the accommodations are truly premium and luxurious, Pimalai also boasts other first class facilities and services. Pimalai Spa is designed and built with the concept to providing guests with complete privacy and exclusivity while retaining the sensory and aesthetic appeal and rustic charm of the natural settings. Selectively located in a lush sloping valley, the Spa, with attractive thatch-roofed Salas, each named after local flowers, is a serene sanctuary perfect for relaxation, rejuvenation and indulgence. Pimalai Spa offers a host of Oriental therapeutic treatments using mainly natural Thai herbal products. At Pimalai, guests are able to savour culinary delights from six food and beverage outlets with offerings from al fresco casual dining, right on the beach, to formal classic Thai dining . “Baan Pimalai ”, the main restaurant, offers Thai and Western cuisines while “Spice n’ Rice ” specializes in classic Thai dishes. Guests can also choose to chill out at “Rak Talay Beach Bar ” offering a dazzling array of snacks, salads, pizzas and freshly caught seafood on the grill or take pleasure in a remarkable dining experience at “The Seven Seas ”, a chic restaurant with an amazing sea view coupled with a sumptuous carte du jour and a Wine Spectator award-winning wine list. Those venturing out of the resort will find that the island has much to offer for leisure …..Explore a nearby Marine National Park, home to numerous species of monkey, or go on excursions to other islands including the famous Emerald Cave on Ko Muk. As the area is surrounded by abundant coral reefs, snorkeling and scuba diving are available between November and April. Other facilities cater to business meetings , conferences and banquets…such as wedding and renewal of vows ceremonies.
Sounds like paradise on earth? But Pimalai is more than a place…it is an experience. Text and Photography by Pimalai Resort & Spa. All Rights Reserved |
