The show Committee of National Day Parade (NDP) 2008 strives to enhance the effects of the show with the creative use of fireworks and pyrotechnics. To bring the excitement of fireworks nearer to the spectators at the seating gallery as well as those in the vicinity of Marina Bay, this year’s fireworks will be more pronounced and concentrated. This is achieved by arraying low and mid-level fireworks and pyrotechnics along the perimeter and the rear corners of the Floating Platform and the light towers.

Highlights

Pre-Parade Segment

A new effect introduced this year is the Mascleta (means fireworks in Spanish). The Mascleta, originating from the annual Falles Festival held in Spain, is a pyrotechnics sympony choreographed to open the Pre-Parade Segment with a colourful and energetic burst. The Mascleta, together with colourful smoke comets, would allows spectators to not just see, but feel the energy through a symphony of rhythmic waves of explosions

Pyrotechnics will also be used by the Show participants. They include the Instant Jets and Gerbs for the MP Command, Singapore Police Force (SPF) and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) : Flying Foxes” and the Merlions

Show Segment

NDP 08 Grand Finale fireworks @ 2001 hrs, lasting total of 3 minutes and 47 seconds, remains one of the key highlights of NDP 08.

NDP 08 will end the night on a high note with a one-minutes firework display during the national songs medley. A Final burst of gold and red crowns fireworks will be fired to end the show.
