| National Day Parade 2007 Show@PossibiCity |
New venue, new inspirations for the National Day Parade 2007 Show1. The first National Day Parade (NDP) on the Floating Platform at Marina Bay leverages on the uniqueness of the location to bring a refreshing Show to Singaporeans. With the performance extending to the sea and sky with the cityscape as the backdrop, the Show, named PossibiCity, will be a large-scale visual and musical performance. 2. Colonel (COL) Alvin Kek, Chairman of NDP 2007 Show Committee, said: “PossibiCity will be truly refreshing, visually stunning and emotionally engaging. It will be a departure from the usual three segmented acts. It will instead consist of five shorter segments with numerous impressions to keep spectators constantly engaged.” Show Concept: Sea, Earth, Sky, People, Fire
3. The Show comprises five segments, Sea, Earth, Sky, People and Fire, weaved together by a central character, SING, which symbolises the tremendous willpower and bountiful energy of Singapore and Singaporeans. 5. Highlights of the Show include: a. NDP 2007 Orchestra. The 240-strong NDP 2007 Orchestra is the biggest orchestra ever assembled for any NDP. Comprising the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, the Singapore Chinese Orchestra, Malay and Indian Ensembles, talented local soloists and the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) Central Band, the NDP 2007 Orchestra fuses together traditional ethnic and contemporary sounds. b. Fireworks finale. Spectators will be treated to a fireworks display lasting slightly over three minutes in the Fire segment. The fireworks will be synchronised to a specially composed piece of music, and integrated with water effects, flames, lasers and lights. c. Performance of National Day Parade celebration songs. For the first time, the Show will feature two new NDP celebration songs. ‘Will You?’, an upbeat song beckoning its listeners to seize the future, will be performed by a group of singers. Kit Chan sings the contemplative ballad ‘There’s No Place I’d Rather Be’. 6. PossibiCity is conceptualised by the NDP 2007 Show Committee, in collaboration with the participating organisations. More than 3,500 performers will be performing in the Show. Please log onto www.ndp.org.sg for more information Photography by Eugene Tang/SingaporeSights. All Rights reserved. |
