Singapore Cruise Centre @ HarbourFront wins 3 International Awards for 2007

At the recently concluded Seatrade Cruise Convention in Miami, Florida, USA, the international passenger terminal at SCC @ HarbourFront was voted winner of the following 3 International Awards 2007 by DREAM World Cruise Destinations Magazine :

• Most Efficient Port Services
• Best Turnaround Port Operations
• Most Efficient Terminal Operator

The international passenger terminal at SCC @ HarbourFront is operated and managed by Singapore Cruise Centre Pte Ltd. The terminal had been winning these awards for a number of years.

“The awards are an endorsement of our continuing efforts in improving the services and processes at our terminal. Interestingly, the terminal was never built to be a cruise terminal. It was previously part of the former World Trade Centre configured for exhibitions and conferences. With the given constraints, we are glad to have risen to the challenge and put in place innovative practices and process flows to maximize efficiency and create a pleasant service experience for all passengers, vessels and crew alike,” says Mr Cheong Teow Cheng, President of Singapore Cruise Centre Pte Ltd, who took over the helm when the company was incorporated in 2003.

“The cruise industry in Asia is just beginning to boom and these accolades provide a further impetus to enhance the experience of all that call and visit our terminal. Internationally, the focus of the industry is geared towards greater customer satisfaction and passengers’ experience at the destinations. This calls for a reengineering of our processes which includes working in tandem with the key stakeholders in the industry to position Singapore as a preferred destination for cruise passengers in the region.”

With the announcement that the new International Cruise Terminal will be ready in 2010, these international awards are a testament to and recognition of the capabilities and competencies of Singapore Cruise Centre Pte Ltd as a worthy contender to operate and manage the new terminal at Marina South. For the existing terminal, renovation plans are already in place to create greater efficiencies and better service experience for all. More details of the plans will be announced very soon.

The Singapore Cruise Centre Pte Ltd was corporatised in 2003 and manages the award-winning cruise terminal and three ferry terminals in Singapore. Our experience in ferry and cruise terminal operation and management is well sought after by overseas ports.
