Question: What inspired you in your creation?

Peter: Based on a novel, "Lost Horizon" that describes a mythical utopia, Shangri-La. The effects of global warming herald many consequences including the rise in sea levels. None is spared – including the idyllic paradise of Shangri La. The creation represents the struggle between nature and the human spirit where the latter eventually triumphs.

Question: What is your view of public and private gardens in Singapore?

Peter: Public gardening has traditionally been a solo act by the National Parks Board. Fortunately, a trend towards communal gardening is seeing a rise in communities coming together to create gardens of their own.

Homeowners are also demanding more innovative ways to create gardens that cope with their lifestyles; take new techniques like the 'living wall' that are easy to maintain and safe.

Question: Peter's life's philosophy.

Peter: Conserve resources.
