Continued from Post ATF 2007 Tour Of Bangkok Pt 1 CENTRAL WORLD SHOPPING COMPLEXThe next morning started with a tour of Central World Shopping Complex, located at the former World Trade Centre site. Opened last August Central World is the largest shopping complex in Thailand and has an unrivalled mix and range of products and services at down to earth prices that put the fun back into shopping for locals and tourists alike. There are two departmental stores with ZEN occupying a retail space of 50,000 sq.m on 7 floors and Zen World on 13 floors offering a fitness centre, spa, yoga, beauty centre as well as an education and tourist promotion centre. For diversity in products and services, there are over 500 Thai and world-renowned brand stores offering world-class brands. These stores are housed in 6 zones of Atrium which specialize in international fashion bands, the Beacon which has stores dealing with translucent art pieces, Central Court which is the main connecting point to all the other zones, Dazzle which house anchor mega-stores such as SuperSports, PowerBuy, Toy ‘R' Us as well as jewellery stores, Eden with it local and fashion brands stores and is also the connecting point to Siam and Chidlom BTS stations, the Forum that houses a variety of modern and chic lifestyle retail concepts from interior decoration shops to fashion and finally Heaven on 7 which has over 21 restaurants offering a range of al fresco dining experience and an array that boggles the mind before the taste. FOODLOFT AT CENTRAL CHIDLOM After a tour of King Power Duty-Free complex and Siam Ocean World, we were taken to Central Departmental store in Chidlom by our guide, Khun Torntida. We were met by Khun AJ,VP of Public Relations and Image building of Central Retail Corporation, the managing company of all the Central and Robinson Department stores in Thailand who kindly hosted us to lunch at FoodLoft @Central. One of the concepts that strike us is an open kitchen restaurant at FoodLoft @ Central Chidlom which is the latest and the most innovative food concept that has evolved in this region. The restaurant offers a wide variety of popular cuisines such as Thai, Chinese, Japanese, Indian, Vietnamese and even Italian. However there are other food booths where one can select from a very wide selection of international food. One can also see the chefs exhibiting their fine art of cooking. This is where customers can experience on-the-spot preparations of he dishes ordered and savour the freshness and aroma of the food being served. FoodLoft @ Central Chidlom also has a very nice interior décor with a unique mezzanine floor based on a Loft design and featuring a raw industrial concept and refined with nice decorative elements and well-presented food booths with virtually attractive layouts. Hence the FoodLoft is the ultimate that encompasses the true meaning of having Food and a Loft put together in a trend-setting environment. It boasts a seating capacity of more than 500 seats of various style and areas and has great visibility where people could watch people walk by. FoodLoft @ Central Chidlom is open from 10 am to 10 pm daily and Central Chidlom department store has also extended our shopping hours to 10 pm daily. It is easiest to get there by taking the BTS Skytrain to Chidlom station.
