The opening ceremony of the IOC was a grand affair which saw many famous political figures and former olympians who came to support the bid of their cities. Among the many dignitaries were Senator Hillary Clinton (New York City), soccer star David Beckham (London) and French President Jacques Chirac (Paris) and legendary pole vaulter Sergei Bubka.
