Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO) presents Jazz You Up

Celebrated jazz musician Chris Brubeck, son of American jazz icon Dave Brubeck, and his fellow Triple Play band members, Peter ‘Madcat’ Ruth and Joel Brown, will be performing alongside the Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO) in an East-meets-West concert titled Jazz You Up. The concert will be held on June 12 and 13, 8:00 p.m., at the SCO Concert Hall.

Triple Play is the name given to three outstanding and versatile musicians, Peter Madcat Ruth, Joel Brown and Chris Brubeck. Collectively they bring a rare level of joy, virtuosity, and American spirit to the folk, blues, jazz, funk, and classical music they perform. Whether it is performing with orchestras, or captivating students at universities across the United States, no concert with them ends without high praise and a standing ovation.

For the concert, the SCO will also be presenting with newly-arranged pieces Bach Prelude in Dminor, Grassland Fantasy and Summer Palace. For the finale, the Dave Brubeck Quartet’s classic piece “Take Five” will also be performed.

The SCO has a fine track record of incorporating Western-styled musical elements in its concerts, even collaborating with Dave Brubeck before in one of its past concerts in Singapore.
