Influenza A (H1N1) Preventive Measures at NDP 2009
As National Day Parade is slightly more than a month away, NDP 2009 EXCO is stepping up its precautionary measures against the H1N1 outbreak. Participants who have travelled to affected countries or have come in contact with H1N1 cases are advised to refrain from attending the rehearsals. Those with fever or flu-like symptoms are also advised to stay away.
Thermal scanning systems are deployed to implement primary and secondary checks on any participants displaying signs of a fever in excess of 38 centigrade before entering the holding area. During the rehearsals, participants who feel unwell can report sick at any of the 5 Medical Posts located throughout the Floating Platform or F1 Pit Building. Patients with fever or flu like symptoms will be isolated from other patients and suspected flu patients will be transferred to hospitals by dedicated ambulance services (993).
Additional preventive measures include disinfecting the holding area, displaying public hygiene messages, providing hand sanitizers and increasing the frequency of toilet cleaning. Vendor and contractors are required to screen their workers for flu and fever before deploying them to the NDP 09 venue.
