At Home Abroad
At Home Abroad brings ‘home’ recent works by Singaporean artists whose art practices are largely or partially based abroad, and who have exhibited frequently on overseas platforms. The ‘home-coming’ of these artworks adds a different dimension to local art discourse, in particular the migratory nature of contemporary art practice.Showcasing a variety of approaches and new media that interest these contemporary Singaporean artists, At Home Abroad features works by Choy Ka Fai, Jason Lim, Ming Wong, Sookoon Ang and Zulkifle Mahmod. The exhibition opening was officiated by Guest of Honour, Ms Jane Ittogi, Chair, Singapore Art Museum on 5th March, 8Q sam.
The exhibition's website (www.aha-blog.sg) will document how the various artworks have been received, both at home and abroad. The site also offers a blogging component that allows viistors and the general public to engage in a lively discussion on the works featured at the exhibition, pose questions they have to the exhibition curators, or simply to share their thought on contemporary art and what it means to them.
The exhibition and its dedicated website will serve as a documentation of how these various artworks have been received, both at home and abroad.
