Erdinger Presents Oktoberfest 2009
No authentic Oktoberfest party is complete without the world’s most popular German wheatbeer, and this year, Erdinger continues its quest to bring the tastes, smells, sights and sounds of Oktoberfest to the people, with close to 200 bars, pubs, restaurants and hotels proudly flying the Erdinger banner. This represents a twofold increase over the number of partner outlets in 2008, and ensures that there will be an Erdinger Oktoberfest celebration to suit every taste and palate!
This year’s Erdinger Oktoberfest celebrations will kick off at the Swiss Club on 30 September, where Erdinger as the official beer will bring a distinctive Bavarian flavour and authenticity to the festivities at this renowned local venue. Running from 30 September to 4 October 2009, the Swiss Club Oktoberfest is one of the highlights of the local festive calendar, renowned for its unique atmosphere, sheer scale and fresh Erdinger Draft beer.
The original celebration was held on 12 October 1810, to honour the marriage of Bavaria’s Crown Prince Ludwig to Princess Therese von Sachsen-Hilderburghausen. The five-day fiesta lasted five days and was such a hit that it was repeated annually to celebrate the royal couple’s anniversary. Today, the Oktoberfest held in Munich is the largest festival in the world, spanning sixteen full days and attracting some six million participants each year.
