A visit to a wet market is also a wonderful experience. Stalls of fresh sea foods, poultry, flowers and vegetables and soak in the air filled with symphony of voices of bargaining and gossips. During the festive months, Taoist celebrations like Festival of the Monkey God, Nine Emperor Gods etc sprout in the Heartlands. Chinese opera performance or ‘Gei Tai’ – a local Chinese variety shows are part of these events. If you are lucky, you will be able to watch a traditional Chinese puppet show. Natural landscape has been blended into the Town and Country planning. Like the Bukit Batok Nature Park. which used to be a granite quarry in the early years and has been turned into a park for nature lovers. In the very near future, you will see another hanging gardens of Babylon in the Heartland with high-rise gardening.

Getting from one estate to another does not pose much a problem with the extensive network of transportation. The Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) and Light Rapid Transit (LRT) provide a easy service to many Singaporeans.
