Vesak Celebrations 2550 take on a new meaning at Little India on Saturday, 6 May 2006. Vesak marks the birth, enlightenment and great passing of the supremely enlightened Buddha. At Little India, festivities celebrating the highest ideals of Buddhist doctrine are led by not just Buddhists but by people from various religious and ethnic communities.

Vesak celebrations in Little India are unique. 21 organizations, including grassroots establishments, business entities, other religious and cultural communities and people from all walks of life and cultures are involved in the massive preparations for the week long celebration. The event is co-organized each year by Little India Shopkeepers and Heritage Association and the Singapore Buddhist Lodge.
