As the festive mood of the Lunar New Year permeates throughout the world, the Chinese and all who celebrate this yearly festive occasion feel happy and joyous. In celebration of this festival, Buddha Tooth Relic Temple (Singapore) will be organizing "Prosperity Spring Blessing 2006" between Sago Lane and Spring Street.

According to the sutra of the light offering, it states, "if one make light offering to Buddha, the merit, wisdom and the virtue of good fortune would be boundless & endless. Only the Buddha knows the amount of good karma one has accumulated through the act of making light offerings". Thus, one can observe that the virtuous act of making light offering is indeed extraordinary.

Additionally, as a new year arrives, it is auspicious to make lantern offering as it symbolizes Buddha's wisdom that shines through darkness. It also represents the awakening of one's wisdom and easing off of one's worries and troubles. Devotees can also pray for good health, family bliss and prosperity and longevity.

Everyone can experience a unique Chinese New Year in a Buddhist tradition. Some activities include:

  • Auspicious Lantern Offering
  • Bathing of Buddha
  • Temple Building & Interior Design Exhibition
  • Adoption of Buddhas Artifact
  • Making Offering to 35 Buddha
On Chinese New Year Eve,
  • Free distribution of Dumpling
