Combining the best of fashion and fine jewellery – Lee Hwa Jewellery and Tan Yoong present “Dazzling Rhapsody”

Exquisite fashion show will also feature compelling performance by internationally renowned violinist Min Lee - Singapore's poster girl

Entitled Dazzling Rhapsody, the show was an exquisite collaboration of two highly original and creative forces. Tan Yoong showcases a specially-designed capsule collection of sumptuous coutureinspired gowns and cocktail dresses, with Lee Hwa complementing his fashion portfolio with its own array of dazzling jewellery pieces. This was the first time in 17 years that Tan Yoong presents a full collection of original designs at any high profile fashion festival.

This is the second time Lee Hwa Jewellery, Singapore’s premier jeweller, comes on as the Official Jeweller for the Singapore Fashion Festival, further augmenting its position as the leading jewellery brand in Singapore. Lee Hwa’s philosophy centres on providing innovative designs that are elegant and luxurious for the discerning and fashionable woman.

As a designer, Tan Yoong tends to stitch his own dreamy vision of sheer, fantasy-drenched styles. Each look is individual and given his signature touch of sheer diaphanous layers and folds. His pieces showcase a kaleidoscope of colours ranging from the softest pastels of pink, mint, blue, champagne and dove-grey, to jewelled hues of red, gold and maroon. At the Singapore Fashion Festival, Tan Yoong will be conjuring up some of his most dream-like fantasy pieces that will feature a myriad of silhouettes, fabrications, textures and styles. From the sheer drapes of tulles to the extravagant folds of silks, one can expect subtle twists in detailing with fine embroidery and embellishments that are hand-finished by his own team of expert atelier seamstresses. Also look out for exuberant big-skirted gowns, skimpy pouf dresses, and slim elongated columns.

About Tan Yoong

Winner of several local and overseas fashion design awards, Tan Yoong is making a rare appearance at the Singapore Fashion Festival 2008. Recognised by his peers and loyal clientele as Singapore's premier fashion designer for the past two decades, Tan Yoong is at the top of his game by being uniquely inventive. As a fashion wizard, he conjures elements of fantasy and surrealism in all of his designs.

Trained in Fine Arts, his first love was painting. His passion for fashion design was only realised and developed after winning a string of creative awards both in Singapore as well as in Tokyo while working as an Art Director at a giant ad agency.

Dazzling Rhapsody is a prelude from the master creator, to tie in with his participation in the first World Fashion Awards to be held in Hollywood later in 2008. Tan Yoong is among the 41 designers worldwide who have been invited by the United Nations to represent Singapore at its inaugural World Fashion Awards at the World Fashion Week.
