The Spring /Summer 2008 Women’s + Men’s Showck Calvin Klein Men’s Spring 2008Natural, sleek, and airy. ck Calvin Klein presents the men’s line for Spring 2008. Relaxed yet elegant. The loose feel of true American sportswear. Shorts and slim trousers are key, both with soft volume on top. Jackets have soft shoulders and small lapels. Sporty Knit shirts with rolled sleeves. Formal and crisp. Materials are pared down. Natural, noble fabrics with technical aspects. Cottons with a light paper finish for pants and outerwear, counterbalanced by soft and fluid knits on top. Athletic-inspired fabrics finished with mesh and perforated leather. Light jerseys are reinterpreted with innovative yarns for a fresh look. Featherweight wools, cotton voiles, and nylons add lightness, while transparent nylons are important for outerwear. Minimal yet thoughtful. Jacket details recall sportswear – anatomic hoods, functional sailing sleeves, and asymmetrical zippers and hidden buttons. Updated footwear includes classic sandal construction in sting ray and perforated nappa, or oxfords in sting ray. Bags are supple yet constructed and multi-purpose. A primary palette of icy blues and greens merge into dark asphalt, with pops of sky. Softer, more muted tones of beige, stone heather, snow, birch, cocoon, and steel gray, with pops of teal. ck Calvin Klein Women’s Spring 2008Organic, voluminous, and modern. ck Calvin Klein presents the women’s line for Spring 2008. Fluid yet precise. A new take on American sportswear. Clean and modern shapes juxtaposed with athletic-inspired elements. Skirts are short with controlled volume and high waists. A hint of menswear-styling is introduced with trench coats and drawstring pants. Form-fitting or contrasted with fluid silhouettes. Pure, noble fabrics. Subtle, without glamorous adornment. Texture is achieved through architectural draping and origami pleating on silks, taffetas, cotton voiles, and heavy to light crêpe de chines. Soft silky jerseys are cool and sensual. Colors. A neutral palette with vibrant accents. Ash, taupe, nude and the palest of greys, accented by strong graphic makeup brights, neon fuchsia, hot lava and turquoise. Shades of white are present throughout, ranging from cocoon to eclipse, with touches of shimmer white metallic. Accessories. Sexy, in a mix of skins, including python, crocodile, string ray, and lizard. High bone heels contrast with organic flat sandals, with an ankle cuff; in contrasting colors like ecru with turquoise. Oversized clutches and large slouchy shoppers in neutrals and brights. More Coverage on Singapore Fashion Festival 2008. Edited by Eugene Tang. Photography by Ken Wong. Videography by Pom Tiong Han.
