Leslie Kuek (336x280)

Thomas Wee is a legend in Singapore’s fashion industry. Growing up, his influences can be traced back to old Hollywood glamour. Women around the world embraced the sophisticated styles of actress like Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, and Marilyn Monroe. Thomas Wee’s work is still very influenced by the elegance of this glorious period.

The turning point in Thomas’ careers as a fashion designer began when he became a finalist in the first “Young Designer Contest’ organized by Her World magazine in 1978.He was selected by the Trade Development Board to represent Singapore as one of the young leading designers in trade mission abroad. He first exhibited in Tokyo and Osaka in 1982 and then in Paris in 1983 and 1984.

Besides his fashion business, Thomas Wee is also a fashion columnist and occasionally lectures as a “visiting lecture” in fashion schools. He also conducts fashion workshop for corporate companies in need of improving company image and the dress sense of staff.

This Festival, Thomas Wee returns to the stage after more than a decade away to present his new collection, “Nouveau Couture/Coiffure Moderne”
