NOKIA TO UNVEIL NEW LOCAL FASHION TALENT AT SFF07
Nokia brings out the romantic side of Singapore’s Young Fashion Designers

Nokia has proudly announced its support for the future of Singapore’s fashion design industry by putting young local talent on the Singapore Fashion Festival (SFF07) catwalk. Nokia returned for a third year as the official mobile for SFF07.

Four of Singapore’s hottest young designer labels – Abyzz (by Desmond Yang), Ueno (by Hiroko), harryhalim (by Harry Halim) and Burgundy (by Vicky Tay) came together on stage in the Nokia L’Amour Young Designer Show at 5pm on 24 March*. This show has debuted one local fashion school graduate onto the professional stage.

“This year at SFF we are focused on promoting local talent,” said Chris Carr, Country Manager, Nokia Singapore. “By participating in SFF07 again, we see an opportunity to not only endorse existing local talent, but to discover upcoming talent.”

To uncover the next local fashion design star, Nokia has launched the Nokia Singapore Designer Award**. Nokia has invited students from LaSalle-SIA College of the Arts, Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Raffles Design Institute and Temasek Polytechnic to enter, which will lead to three finalists being selected and one collection making it onto the SFF catwalk. The winner of the award will have his/her collection showcased alongside four established young designers’ collections and on the same catwalk as the world’s leading labels.

The Nokia L’Amour Young Designer Show featured the latest collections from the five designers. Each designer included a unique L’Amour-inspired piece as part of their collection. The designers will find L’Amour-inspiration in the faded luxury of exotic architecture from far-flung continents, and interpreting the decadent glamour of a starlet’s boudoir.

“We look forward to seeing how the designers interpret the exotic and romantic themes that are found in our L’Amour Collection of fashion phones,” added Mr Carr.
