RIVER ISLAND SPRING/SUMMER COLLECTION 2007
Women’s Signature print dresses continue this season. Provided in various print options, choose from graphic prints, oversized floral and retro print. We see 80’s references appear through interesting fabrications and trims on clothes. PVC cigarette pants are super slick and look irresistible teamed with oversized iconic 80’s T-shirt – classic tailored jackets inverted PVC trims; leggings are plentiful and appear both in plain colour and with a graphic scribble print. The Parka is the spring jacket of choice and is available in various guises. Choose from a parachute silk parka in white or a black Windcheater for a harder street wear edge. The masculine reference from last season is still evident by way of mannish trousers and waistcoats, whilst the city short becomes more voluminous and the trench is updated with oversized kooky buttons. Eveningwear is luxurious both in fabrication and feel. Gold appears across dresses and jackets and adds a touch of elegant glamour. Naturally colour is in abundance throughout the collection and appears both as block colour and highlights. A baby-doll dress appears in the palest lemon, whilst at the other end of the colour palette we see splashes of neon n jersey T-shirts and vests. Accessories reinforce the general mood of the season with highlights including oversize leather holdalls in sunshine colours, glossy flat sandals, split-front metallic shoe boots, oversized shades and winkle picker brogues.
Men’s Keen to champion real and wearable fashion, River Island documents the fashion sense of British men from throughout the UK in a series of documentary style images by leading British photographer, Barnaby Roper. British style isn’t just about the latest catwalk trends or the styles from the many music scenes in the capital – British style surpasses this stereotype. British men are smart enough not to be dictated too – it’s about individual touches, a sense of belonging, freedom and more importantly feeling comfortable. River Island’s new season collection focuses on a cross section of styles that reflect the diversity and perhaps more importantly the attitude of today’s modern Britain.
