Femmes de Caractère Women of Character
A moving manuscript of spirited women, iconic fashion and vivid beauty

To celebrate women in stellar style, L’Oréal Paris partners fêted local design label BAYLENE during Singapore Fashion Festival this year to bring audiences a stunning showcase of Femmes de Caractère (Women of Character). The complexity and beauty of women are the cornerstones of this film noir-inspired show starring 6 local celebrities who personify an inimitable character and spirit. BAYLENE’s strong Black and White Lollipop Collection 07/08 is complemented by L’Oréal Paris’ show-stopping eye colours to create a vicarious ride into a dreamlike passage through the complex worlds of monotones and colour; and of boldness and beauty. This is fashion and beauty at its finest.

The collaboration with a local designer is a first for L’Oréal Paris and the beauty brand believes that it is pivotal in making the Fashion Festival one that the country can call its own.

The Costumes

Continuing from their successful Playground Collection that was inspired by the growth from a little girl to a strong, independent woman, BAYLENE presents its Black and White Lollipop Collection 07/08 that is representative of the liberation of women since the early centuries to the present. The label’s bold and daring tailoring is an interpretation of how the female clothing item has been re-invented for the modern day with the black and white twists of the 1920s to the 1930s. The collection is designed for the modern femme fatale with BAYLENE’s signature black coloured pieces. Key details blend both strong lines and delicate details to reflect the bold characters and softer sides of the modern day woman. With shiny fabric, double collars; straight cut dresses; skinny pants and unique sleeve details will make their debut on the stark black catwalk. Look out also for BAYLENE’s trademark multi-way wearable pieces that inject some excitement and versatility into any wardrobe.

The Beauty

L’Oreal Paris creates an explosion of colour and character on eyes which are juxtaposed against BAYLENE’s inky black and white fashion. The eyes of the modern woman are never passive when it comes to desire, and speak volumes without words.
Limited edition L’Oreal Paris Color Appeal Star Secrets Eyeshadow Palettes provide the basis for this fusion of colour and each of these palettes combine four colours that the brand’s celebrity ambassadresses such as Gong Li, Penelope Cruz and Michelle Yeoh personally chose.
A complete revival of Old Hollywood flair, eyes are rich, glamorous and decadent.
