Singapore Food Festival 2007 Kicks Off With Giant Chilli Crab FeastThe 14th Singapore Food Festival 2007, celebrating the best of Singapore’s multi-ethnic local dishes, officially opens today with crabs galore! Guest-of-Honour Mr S Iswaran, Minister of State for Trade and Industry launched the annual festival by tossing in the final and most essential ingredient of crabs into the Uniquely Singapore dish of Singapore Chilli Crab. Crab lovers are in for a ‘crab-a-licious’ treat this July at the Festival, beginning with the Singapore TIGER Chilli Crab Festival (29 June to 1 July) at Ngee Ann City’s Civic Plaza. More than 30 stalls will present this Uniquely Singapore crustacean dish, amongst many other local food delights, in a variety of culinary interpretation including Creamy Cheese Crab, Salted and Deep-fried Butter Crab. The Banana Leaf Apolo Restaurant, known for its South Indian cuisine, will be whipping up a new crab dish topped with special curry gravy featuring a heady mix of up to nine types of spices. Fara’s Café promises to tantalize taste buds with its Malay version of chilli crab, tangy and spicy with its use of sambal and assam. Also serving up their best dishes are some of Singapore’s biggest names in seafood including Jumbo Restaurant, Palm Beach Seafood Restaurant, Gold Coast Restaurant and Chen Fu Ji. |
