Sentosa's annual springtime floral extravaganza Sentosa Flowers 2007 (圣淘沙春节花会) showcasing a million breath-taking blooms will blossom once again this lunar new year from 18 to 25 February 2007. Now into its third year, this award winning spectacle held over the first eight days of the Chinese Lunar New Year expects to receive 260,000 guests this year. Feast your eyes and sing along as the event brings you “Rhymes in Bloom” 吟童谣)promising to delight and charm you with a wondrous garden display of all-time favourite nursery rhymes.

Rhythms of Rhymes

Nestled in the heart of Sentosa's Imbiah Lookout cluster of attractions, the Imbiah Terrace will come alive as nursery rhymes characters take form amidst a medley of colours. Come experience and revisit your childhood through a selection of international and local rhymes, and share this fun-filled journey with your family, friends and children. Photo opportunities abound with twenty-three interactive and enchanting sculptures of nursery rhyme characters like “Humpty Dumpty”, “Old Woman who lived in a shoe” and the Little Piggies to usher in the Year of the Pig – a wonderful occasion for the whole family to celebrate the Spring Festival.

The Imbiah Terrace will house four newly created gardens namely:

  1. The Heritage Garden (藏宝园), showcasing a variety of flora and fauna that is distinctive to each of our local cultures;
  2. The Imagination Garden (幻想园)which will enchant you with over 40 species of flowers that are commonly featured in storybooks and fantasies;
  3. The Performance Garden (花舞园) captivating your attention with over 20 species of unusual looking and rare plants; and
  4. The Wild Garden (野花园) with a special display of more than 100 species of local wild flowers to reveal the subtle charm of these flowers which are found in the wilderness within Sentosa.

The festive grounds will span over Imbiah Lookout, the new and improved Imbiah Terrace which will be the heart of the festivities, and Beach Station – taking you on a colourful and magical visual journey. Visitors can access the festive grounds easily through the Imbiah Station or Beach Station of the Sentosa Express which has started operations since 15 January 2007.

“Sentosa Flowers provides a charming location to spend the Lunar New Year with your loved ones. This year's theme will delight children and the child in each of us as well as showcase 1 million blooms from over 1,000 species of interesting flowers and plants”, says Tan Kok Yeang, Director, Environmental Services, Sentosa Leisure Group.

This tropical island of beautiful blooms invites its guests to experience this magical garden with families and friends to celebrate the festive season.

Last year's Sentosa Flowers attracted 265,000 visitors and won the Gold Award in 2005 for “Best New Event” and the Grand Pinnacle Award in 2006 at the International Festival and Events Association (IFEA) annual Pinnacle Awards ceremonies, held in Ottawa, Canada.
