Here's A Toast To A Better Future For The Young : Balaclava & Haper BAZAAR in Support of MILK Fund

Toasting to the better future for the young, fashionistas gathered at the ultra chic pub venue Balaclava at Suntec Singapore for an evening of fashion, live music and charity. In support of MILK Fund, a non-profit organization that gives hope to disadvantaged children by funding their education, care and guidance, medical treatment and other special needs to guide them back to mainstream society, which the night's earning will be donated to.

The one night event held on 14th March 2007, was organized by Imaginings and fashion magazine Harpers BAZAAR. Highlights of the event was a blend of Fashion showcase featuring the vibrant fusion of East-Meets-West nostalgia from Shanghai Tang, contemporary understated chic from EQ:IQ as well as the stunning evening wear from multi-label Tyan Boutique.

Showcasing the Spring 2007 collection, Shanghai Tang presented a collection that was true to its theme of “Shanghai Modern”. Apart from Shanghai Tang’s well-known embroidered coats and
dresses, prints also found its way in the form stylized version of Modern Shanghai Skyline. Considering the emphasis on prints this season, the silhouettes are wearable and unfussy, giving free play to the graphism of the fabrics.

The Shanghai Tang collection is built on silk georgette, chiffon and crepe, resulting in body-skimming, feminine shapes. Icons like “Oriental Pearl Tower” and “Pu dong Skyline” are cleverly infused in the prints of the apparels. “City in the Clouds” features a black and white cartoon-style illustration of the city, overlaid with a transparent layer of clouds.

Central to the theme of “Balancing the Contrast”, EQ:IQ Spring/Summer 2007 Collection was a harmonious contrast between structural /architectural lines and romantic/ floaty designs which was demonstrated by the label's French designer Stephanie Stindel to great effect.

Different textures and lengths play against each other to create the mixture of modern shapes.
The structural influence reverberates throughout the collection as exaggerated volume for smock tops, teamed with skinny trousers or shorts to create a modern look and mini-skirts, both mid-thigh and micro minis merges perfectly with the season’s simple and minimal look.

Tyan Boutique's offering to the evening was a array of evening wear which features lots of sequins to up the glam factor. If the designers chose to use sparkle, they certainly did not hold back as burst of silver, gold and bronze gave the finale of the fashion show a sexy and glamorous note.
