Thousands of people had the opportunity to delight in exquisite international cuisine and shop to their hearts' content while enjoying the vibrant performance, right in the heart of Orchard Road.

Brought together by the Singapore red Cross, the "Many hands, One World" Red Cross International Bazaar is a biennial event to raise funds for the Red Cross local humanitarian services.

Guest of Honour, His Excellency, President S R Nathan, Patron of Singapore Red Cross, and Mrs. S R Nathan arrived at 10.30am and were welcomed by members and volunteers of the Red Cross as well as distinguished representatives from the various embassies and national foreign associations.

Held at the Royal Thai Embassy from 10am to 6pm, the Red Cross International Bazaar showcased a total of 107 stalls, set up by 25 embassies and foreign national associations, 15 schools, and 20 companies and civic groups. This bazaar reflected the true spirit of volunteerism with close to 1,500 volunteers from all walks of life lending a hand from cooking, making handicrafts, manning the stalls, performing multicultural numbers, to selling tickets and handling out balloons, everyone helped on some way to make the event a success, The Bazaar was also first for four of the embassies, namely Chile, Greece, Poland and Spain.

"The theme of this year's bazaar "Many Hands, One World" reflects the contribution of volunteers and organizations from different countries coming together as a global community in serving humanity…This is the largest participation from countries represented here in Singapore since we started this series of international bazaars in support of the Singapore Red Cross", said Lt Gen Winston Choo, Chairman, Singapore Red Cross.
