Lights, music, theatre and water, lots and lots of water! This outdoor spectacle will animate the 19th century architecture of the National Museum as never before in an explosion of light and water-jets. Fun for the whole family, bring your cameras and raincoats.

Bangsawan opera brought together the opulence of royalty, fight-sequences, song and dance, comic routines, a prince, a princess and villains amid plots with endless twists and turns. Divine Soap is a playful modern performance based on the 1965 smash hit, Jula Juli Bintang Tiga, directed by B.N. Rao, Divine Soap, while retaining Bangsawan’s singular aim to wow and entertain audiences, will also explore the meaning of theatricality and the societal and economic factors that have determined and shaped art and theatre from time immemorial. Accompanied by a live keroncong band and a host of hilarious rotating guest stars, Divine Soap will be performed in Malay and English with subtitles.

Maria Theresia Walburga Amalia Christina, or Maria Theresia as she is commonly known, was an extraordinary woman of many talents. In 1740, she became the first and only female ruler of the Austrian Habsburg dynasty which comprises modern Austria, much of present-day Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, Serbia & Montenegro, Romania, northern Italy and Belgium.

Huge inflated structures inspired by Islamic architecture will be erected along the entire frontage of the Museum. Visitors will be immersed in a new sensory experience as they navigate within the labyrinthine paths of the installation.

Two outstanding performances by Cultural Medallion winners, Phan Wait Hong and Joanna Wong, the leading exponents of Beijing and Cantonese opera.

93-year-old Phan Wait Hong, Singapore’s most celebrated Beijing opera doyenne, will perform with special guest, Bai Yen in, “Diao Jing Gui”, a story about an unfilial son for the first time! This would be 87-year-old Bai Yen’s first stage performance since his retirement as a MediaCorp artiste in 1996. Bai Yen was also awarded the prestigious Special Achievement Award in the Star Awards 1996.

Joanna Wong will offer audience a glimpse on what goes on behind the scenes and reprise scenes from her most famous Cantonese opera performances.
