Malay Heritage Knights trot on ‘Royal Horses’ for $250,000/-
donations.
In conjunction with Hari Raya Celebrations and as part of its initiative to
raise funds annually, The Malay Heritage Foundation launched a Donation Draw
on Tuesday 7th November 2006. Dr Yaacob Ibrahim, Minister of Environment and
Water Resources, also Minister-In-Charge of Muslim Affairs was the Guest of
Honour.
For the first time, Malay Knights and warriors were seen trotting on their
‘royal horses’ at the Malay Heritage Centre escorted by the ‘Kuda Kepang’, a
symbolic Javanese cultural horse dance.
Donation tickets will be sold exclusively at $10 each and the Malay Heritage
Centre endeavour to raise $250,000. The draw is scheduled to be conducted on
the 24th of February 2007 and the lucky winner will stand a chance to drive
away a KIA Carnival 2.5l. The ticket also entitles the donor a complimentary
admission to the Museum within the promotion period.
Letters of appeal have already been sent to many corporate organisations
and individuals in pledging for donations.
Each donation will go a long way towards helping the Centre live up to its
mission to be a national institution which is dedicated to the task of preserving
Malay heritage for all Singaporeans.
‘Syawal is a month of celebrations where giving and sharing is a tradition,
thus, this would be the best opportunity to launch the donation draw’, quoted
Mr Eddy Noor Hassan, General manager, Malay Heritage Centre.
The talented TV star and comedian, Mr Suhaimi Yusof hosted the Istana Raya
celebrations together with Anugerah finalist, Khairil Yusoff , Imran Ajmain,
the legendary Zaleha Hamid, the multi talented and International performer,
Nuradee Brothers and the entertaining Sri Wanean Kids.
The program is also supported by the Cycle and Carriage group, KIA Motor
Singapore, Singapore Polo Club, Mendaki Club, Islamic Religious Council of Singapore
(MUIS) and Equestrian Club.
