Take a journey back over 65 million years to the time when dinosaurs ruled the Earth! The Singapore Science Centre and the National University of Singapore's (NUS) Faculty of Science will be opening a four-part exhibition on dinosaurs. Running from 20 May to 20 August 2006, "Dinosaurs! A T. rex named SUE and Friends" provides a face-to-face experience of life in the Cretaceous period with a whole range of fun and interactive things to do. Taking the centre stage is the "A T. rex Named Sue" exhibit, which is on display for the first time in Singapore and Southeast Asia. Created by The Field Museum of Chicago, U.S.A, this exhibit brings the story of SUE - the world's largest, most complete and best-preserved T. rex - to life through a visceral experience that combines visual, tactile, aural, and aromatic activities with compelling educational content. NUS' Faculty of Science was approached by The Field Museum last year to bring SUE to Singapore. Professor Tan Eng Chye, Dean, NUS Faculty of Science, said, "We are honoured to partner The Field Museum, one of the world's great natural history museums, as well as the Singapore Science Centre in this endeavour to showcase how different fields in Science -- such as biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics and computing - come together to interpret, reveal and recreate the lives of extinct organisms."
