1-01.jpgThe magic of The Reluctant Dragon and The Wind In the Willows is back in May 2008 at the Victoria Theatre under the direction of Michael Corbidge.

This double-bill performance was first staged at the Esplanade Recital Studio in August 2007 with all 6 performances sold out.

With the success of the previous shows and its general appeal, the Singapore Lyric Opera has decided to bring back this delightful double-bill in May with 6 more performances lined up, So over 5,000 people will be able to witness these crazy, wonderful shows first-hand and experience the magic of The Reluctant Dragon and The Wind In The Willows.

Soloists from La Salle College of the Arts Music Theatre Department join the Singapore Lyric Opera’s Children’s Choir will continue to charm your socks off. Michael Corbidge, acclaimed actor, playwright and director along with Adrian Poon, Music Director for this production, will lead the creative team.

The Reluctant Dragon is a story about friendship with people different from ourselves. Be ready for a stirring tale of friendship between a shepherd’s son and a gentle and poetic dragon, who is reluctant to fight and would love nothing better than to be accepted into society.

The Wind in the Willows is a cautionary tale about the dangers of materialism and what it means to be truly happy. This classic, written by Kenneth Grahame in 1908 stars animal characters such as Mole, Mr Toad and Mr Badger.

These stories appeal to the young and the young at heart. Both stories deal with themes of multiculturalism, racial harmony, personal roots and a sense of home, and act as perfect educational lessons for the youth of today.

‘This production brings together two well known and well loved tales by Kenneth Grahame – The Reluctant Dragon and The Wind in the Willows. With infectious music by John Rutter, we guarantee everyone in the family from 6 to 101 will be entertained! ‘
General Manager, Singapore Lyric Opera Ms Ng Siew Eng

‘The combining of talents from La Salle and the Singapore Lyric Opera’s Children’s Choir is pure genius. The performances are brilliant, music sensational and the humour brilliant. All this makes for a remarkable show. I remember parts where the whole audience was laughing. I haven’t seen children so engaged in a performance.’
Audience member, Michelle Rogers
