Clarke Quay Grooves to First Uniquely Singapore Weekend

Over the weekend, Singapore Tourism Board (STB) started the first Unique Singapore Weekend campaign entitled Weekend Grooves @ Clarke Quay, a three-day entertainment extravaganza to enable visitors to experience the fun, energy and buzz of weekends in Singapore

The Uniquely Singapore Weekends is STB’s latest campaign to position Singapore as a top-of-mind weekend destination in the region. Seven cities have been chosen for this campaign also aimed at attracting more visitors to experience weekend getaways, any time throughout the year. These cities - Bangkok, Chennai, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Jakarta, Johor Baru and Kuala Lumpur - have been selected based on their proximity and ease of travel to Singapore.

“Through the Uniquely Singapore Weekends campaign, we aim to drive home the point that visitors can enjoy a weekend like no other in Uniquely Singapore; that there is so much to see and do - whether you enjoy shopping, dining, sightseeing, clubbing or simply soaking in the weekend fun and revelry. The Weekend Grooves @ Clarke Quay is a good platform for us to launch and create awareness for the campaign,” said Mr Quek Swee Kuan, Deputy Chief Executive, International Group, STB.

The timing of the event in August is also chosen to coincide with Singapore’s National Day celebrations and a series of events such as the Singapore Fireworks Celebrations, WOMAD, WaterFest 2007 and Heroes World Tour. In addition to these, there are other regular weekend activities that local residents and visitors can enjoy.
