| Paul Anka World Tour 2008 |
Paul Anka comes to Singapore!
Paul Anka will perform his classic hits at Singapore Indoor Stadium on 22nd September 2008, 8pm. Tickets priced at $168, $148, $128, $108, $78 (excluding SISTIC fee) will be available via SISTIC hotline 6348 5555 or www.unusual.com.sg from 20 June 2008 onwards. One of this century's most prolific songwriter and entertainer, with awards and accomplishments that are unrivalled, Paul Anka started to perform in song contests in Canada at the young age of 14 years old. Shortly after, he performed in New York where he presented his own composition, Diana. The producer was so amazed with his performance that he got him to record the song in 1957. The single Diana went on to sell over 10 million copies and is the second most sold after White Christmas, performed by Bing Crosby, cementing Paul Anka as a teen idol in the late 1950’s. An icon of popular music, Paul Anka was named the 21st most successful artist in Billboard's history. He has recorded over 900 songs and released over 125 albums in a wide variety of languages, selling close to 15 million albums worldwide and landing three No. 1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 - "Diana," "Lonely Boy" and "(You're) Having My Baby."
Other than singing his own songs, Paul Anka also composed many evergreen hits for other artistes. His music catalogue includes titles such as "She's a Lady" (Tom Jones), "Puppy Love" (Donny Osmond), "It Doesn't Matter Any More" (Buddy Holly) and "Teddy" (Connie Francis). The theme song he wrote for The Tonight Show was heard every night by millions of Johnny Carson fans, making it the most played TV theme ever. Don’t miss your chance to catch Paul Anka and his classics in this one night only performance on 22nd September at the Singapore Indoor Stadium! With more than 50 years in the music scene, this concert will encapsulate nearly every era of hit-making for him. *The above information was taken from http://www.paulanka.com |
