Air Supply embarks on new Asia Tour 2008Air Supply is back with a new Asia Tour that will swing by the Max Pavilion @ Singapore Expo on 21st June! Tickets priced at $128, $98, $78, $58 (excluding SISTIC fee) will be available via SISTIC hotline 6348 5555 or www.unusual.com.sg from 25 March 2008 onwards. Russell Hitchcock and Graham Russell, also known as Air Supply, first met in May, 1975 during the rehearsals for the musical “Jesus Christ Superstar” in Sydney, Australia. After the performances each night, they would play at pizza parlors, coffee bars and night clubs with just one guitar and two voices. They quickly gained a reputation for great harmonies and for original songs that Graham was writing constantly. That same year, with a single that shot to number one on the Australian National charts, Air Supply opened for Rod Stewart across Australia and then throughout the US and Canada. They found new fans, but did not break the US market. Back in Australia, Air Supply made a record called ‘Life Support’ which included the track “Lost in Love” which went top 10 in Australia and found its way to Clive Davis in New York, who subsequently signed Air Supply to Arista Records. In 1980, “Lost in Love” became the fastest selling single in the world and leaped to the top of all chart action. It was also named “Song of The Year”. This success was followed by the next hit “All Out of Love”. Their albums “Lost in Love”, “The One That You Love”, “Now & Forever” and “The Greatest Hits” sold in excess of 20 million copies. The trademark sound of Russell’s soaring tenor voice and Graham’s simple yet majestic songs have always held audiences captive in their many live shows around the world. Their affinity with Asia is evident when Air Supply became the first western group to tour China, Taiwan and countless other countries which before that would not allow pop music into their borders. In 1983 they recorded ‘Making Love Out of Nothing at All’ by Jim Steinman which solidified the group as a permanent force in modern music. This song was released on “The Greatest Hits” album which soared past 7 million copies. Their many other hits include ‘Lost in Love’, ‘All Out of Love’, ‘The One That You Love’, ‘Sweet Dreams’, ‘Every Woman In The World’, ‘Even The Nights Are Better’ and ‘Two Less Lonely People In The World’, each having achieved multi-million plays on the radio. Don’t miss your chance to catch the evergreen Air Supply belting out their many well-loved hits on 21st June at the MAX Pavilion! *The above information was taken from http://www.airsupply-online.com/facts.html |
