Hue Restaurant @ Amara Singapore
This is a Vietnamese Restaurant and Bar cum Wine and Cigar Retail Outlet located on level 1 of Amara Singapore . According to sources, the name “Hue” came from Vietnam’s Imperial City. Hue is symbolic of the monumental heritage and culture, exclusive only to this beautiful city in Vietnam. Renowned throughout the country both for the beauty of its women, and the sophistication of its cuisine, Hue lies at the heart of Vietnamese Cultural tradition. And it is in Hue where you can sample authentic Vietnamese Cuisine in a contemporary setting. Minimalist themed, I like the cosiness of the restaurant. It is the perfect setting for a sumptuous lunch, or a romantic dinner with a loved one, or simply a place to chill-out.
Bento at Hue What intrigues me is that while at Hue, guests are invited to choose from a wide selection of wines that are exhibited prominently on its awesome ceiling high wine display showcase. There are at least 170 selection of premium wines. The restaurant serves authentic Vietnamese cuisine in both regular and sampling portions. Every dish is specially chosen to appeal to different palates. You may order wine to go with your food. ![]() Wine Bar The ala carte menu does not boast of a long list of dishes but the choice in terms of variety is adequate. From a choice of three kinds of soup, I chose “Hue Fish Soup”. It looked bland but was very tasty because of the herbs used. I picked “Steamed Clam with Lemon Grass and Lemon Leaf in Claypot”. The tasty clams were crunchy and soft, and they literally melt in the mouth. A pleasant starter indeed to whet one’s appetite. The Jackfruit salad with Sesame Rice paper was refreshing. One of Hue’s specialities is the Spicy Noodle Soup with Beef. It is spicy but not over-powering. It came with a rich beef stock and the specially-made flat rice noodles are smooth and soft. A must to order if you love noodles. Should you pick something from the grill, I would recommend “Grilled Lemon Grass Beef” which is tender and sweet, or “Grilled Lemon Grass Cod Fillet”. Prices are reasonable. They range from S$7 to S$26 per dish. Hue also has a daily special which comprises 6 dishes plus a dessert. Their Bento Set is priced at S$28+++ for lunch and S$32+++ for dinner. There are 5 different sets of menu from Monday to Friday. I tried the Friday Set which consisted of Seafood Salad, Fresh Spring Roll with Duck and Vietnamese Herbs, Deep-fried Sugarcane Prawn, Vietnamese Spicy Fish Cake, Beef Noodles, and Taro Sticky Sweet Soup with Coconut Milk for dessert. Each dish complements one another well. The next time you crave for Vietnamese Cuisine, think of “Hue” at Amara Singapore. Bon appétit!
