8Q-Rate: School and Masriadi: Black is My Last Weapon

8Q-Rate: School
(16 August 2008 to 9 January 2009)
8Q-Rate: School is the inaugural exhibition of our new extension, 8Q sam. As the title implies, there will be 8 curators working with 8 artists on an exhibition based on the theme of “School”. This venture is also about the artists’ responses to the site and location as the building was once the Catholic High Primary School.

Masriadi: Black is My Last Weapon
(23 August to 9 November 2008)
The exhibition, Masriadi: Black is My Last Weapon, desires to evoke and present a striking portrait of Masriadi through the displayed works and the exhibition design. This desire translates to four thematic sections, each providing a different angle to understand different façades of Masriadi's personality, his commitment to painting and the formal and thematic aspects in his works. Seen together, the exhibition sections will render an intimate and striking portrait of the artist's life, works and practice in painting over the last decade.
